Question...
"I have heard that there was a requirement for wall mounted lavs that they had to withstand a certain amount of weight on the outside rim of the lav. Do you know of that "rule" and if so what is the weight and the rule? "

RepWars Reply...
We presented your question to major fixture manufacturers and found that they do not design lavatory rims to withstand a specific weight. The general response we received was..."It is not recommended that substantial weight be placed upon the outside rim of a lavatory."
Good question! Sorry we couldn't come up with a more definite answer. The UPC refers to ANSI 112.19.2M for vitreous china plumbing fixtures and ANSI Z124..3 for plastic lavatories. If you can get a hold of these standards, they may provide more insight.
